S.

Could someone please tell me why there are no groups of people with weapons and night-vision goggles, out there protecting these women and girls? The government will not act. The factory owners will not act. It is time for people to pick up guns and destroy those men involved in attacking these women and girls. The world does not need people like that anyhow. The entire planet would be better off without those evil monsters.

Is it illegal to use fatal force to defend a woman against her attacker in Mexico? If not; then perhaps it is time to form a group of "Defenders" who keep watch, in critical areas, at night. If it is illegal; then perhaps it is time to quietly form an unseen group of "defenders". Simply catch them in the act of attacking, and rid the world of their existence.

As far as finding bodies; aren't there machines that can locate bodies underground? Perhaps movie stars like Jennifer Lopez, who starred in the movie "Bordertown", could pay for a few of those machines to help families look for the bodies of their loved ones.

Has anyone asked people like J.L. to pay for security; lights; transportation and roads to help protect these women and girls? Look at what Oprah did in Africa with her school. I'm sure other famous people here in the U.S. could pay for something equally as helpful and wonderful.

Forgetting the government and factory owners (because dealing with them is useless), what exactly is needed in Mexico to protect these women and girls? Is there a plan or a list? If not; then a plan needs to be created, so that famous rich people here in the U.S. can pay for the plan to be put into action.

This problem could be solved immediately by not focusing on changing the government or factory owners. It would be great if they could be convinced to care, but they can't, so it's time to find a completely different way. It's time to go in a completely new direction.

The government and factory owners would be shamed into action, in front of the entire world, when regular citizens started taking action, because of having financial backing by famous people here in the U.S.

I think there also needs to be a listing posted of the corporations and products involved in these factories. I would like to know which companies to stop buying products from.

Comment on The movie Bordertown

As Cinco De Mayo approaches I think now more than anything we need to ask ourselves what has really changed since the battle of Puebla? I may be an American citizen but we really need to begin to realize that things will never change unless we make them happen. I am very outraged by this and its terrible that so many people are well aware of whats happening in Juarez and no one ever dose anything. These type of things will continue if people don't begin to open their eyes. Those woman and even young girls are abused and viciously killed and nothing ever gets resolved. This society is run by the wealthy and money talks but money can also keep people quite if anyone out their would like to attempt to open peoples eyes a little more PLEASE write letters speak out tell someone anyone who will listen. If anyone would like to show support and you can visit www.lourdesportillo.com the websitte has ways you can help and show support.

Comment on The Daughters of Juarez: A True Story of Serial Murder South of the Border

I just started reading the book and I am very offended by what has happened to this women. I am horrified on the way they were killed. It discusses me on the fact that the government does not take this more seriously. How many more murders is it going to take for government and officials to step in.

I question myself, Why hasn't the USA stepped in to help and/or make this been more known? We can invade another country and send our troops to die, but we can't step in to help these families that have lost YOUNG GIRLS. How messed up are our priorities?

I am outrage. I have yet to finish the book, but I am moved and motivated to finish it in the next day. I have also seen the movie Bordertown.
These has also motivated me to make people aware of these crimes and the need for something to be done NOW. I just finished reading the book "The Daughters of Juarez" author Teresa Rodriguez, Univision.com anchor. In the book there are a lot of details on the evidence of who the real killers are. They are the police department from the city Juarez. They give death threats any other official such as the DA's office if they get all into puting an end to the killings. If NAFTA companies continues to make "profits" from these woman they should be responsible for their safety, besides if money is so important to these companies aren't they interested that their workers stay alive. With 500 woman dead, who will run their businesses. There should be basic human rights such as right to fair wages, that is "liveable wages" and safe communte all the way back to their homes, such as company owned shuttles, not "outside buses for hire" In addition, the government should work with the FBI to do a thorough investigation of the evidence such as a so called photo album at one of the police dept office that shows the girls being raped, mutilated and even burned. This and much more information is in the book "The Daughters of Juarez" More so the current president needs and should be making business with the U.S. to bring in growth, revenue, and prosperity to the country. What does the president want to cut out all the tourist from traveling to the country, what a stupid idea, of course not, the president should make is safe for all people of all walks of like to feel safe going to all parts of Mexico including Juarez. If growth would happen, crime will go down. People need money to survive. Well paying salaries to the police staff so that they wont be tempted to accept bribes or be "bought" as they say. Life itself is all about money and without a decent amount of money coming in anything goes for these people in Juarez even to the point of killing. Wake up president help the people make a decent living, help the poor, establish programs, etc, copy the U.S. in how they handle proverty, but move it.

Comment on Help the Young Women of Ciudad Juarez by writing to these Corporations

I don't know if the addresses are correct for sure. You can always look them up online. Here is a small list of some more corporations with maquiladoras there. Alcoa, General Electric, Du Pont, Ford, Thomson RCA, Honeywell, 3M, Amway, TDK and Kenwood. It is always relevant to write and remind these companies that they should not treat their employees badly. I suggest you write these companies and send a copy to your local reps, starting with your ciy council members all the way up to your congressional reps. Maybe consider a boycott of these companies?

Comment on The movie Bordertown

I just saw this movie for the first time. I was born and raised in El Paso and moved in 1993. I just can not believe that this is still being allowed to go on. If you thought this movie was powerful, you need to watch a documentary by Lourdes Portillo called "Senorita Extraviada", not for the weak at heart. After watching this documentary, I was scared for these young women, sad and mostly angry. It will tug at all your emotions.
I don't understand why the world is turning a blind eye to this like the mass genocide that occurred in Rwanda in 1993. Have we learned nothing? Where is the humanity?
Being that these rapists/murderers are becoming bolder in their assaults, whose to say they won't start targeting young American women that cross over into Mexico everyday for whatever reason. Will the US become more involved in aiding in solving these crimes then?

Comment on Help the Young Women of Ciudad Juarez by writing to these Corporations

I really like this article and I strongly believe that a change needs to be made and something seriously needs to be done to protect all the voiceless women in Juarez....I think NAFTA is a joke it is more like a slavery trade rather then a free trade like they are saying it is in North America...Countless of women are dying for the States pleasures, while they sit on their samsung cell phones to watching TV on their sanyo television system...Instead of being on the phone with friends and watching TV the should get off their ass's and do something about the murders and disappearance's of all the women in Juarez and everywhere else in Mexico....

Comment on The Daughters of Juarez: A True Story of Serial Murder South of the Border

this is the most horrible thing ever!!
how could this be allowed to happen? Mexico government disgusts me.. I completely understand and agree the american companies located there should most definitly provide more security for thier workers just as they would here in the US but the mexico gov allows them to get away with not paying the employee decent wages & providing proper security... I just don't understand.. These are just young girls. not mexican girls. just girls. I'm so sick of people downing mexico and not caring what is happening to these girls. but being the jaurez drug cartel and corrupt mexican police and gov. what are we suppose to do?

how could any country allow this to happen.. Pure evil is what it is.
wonder how the drug cartel, corrupt mexican or an gov offical would feel if it was their daughter or sister or neice.
there girls lives are no less important than ours. something must be done.
It really makes you look at the men in mexico with pure disgust.. because you don't know which one of them is responsible for these crimes.
